AEI TuftX technology
TuftX is a yarn monitoring system to stop a process automatically when a yarn goes tight or breaks.
The TuftX system or "X-technology" is built into modules capable of controlling 10 ends per module, so it checks every single end on the tufting machine or other continues yarn consuming process separately.
TuftX is an optical system which works with an InfraRed sensor that "looks" at the yarn.
By using our magic algorithm, we can then determine changes to the yarn during production.
This enables us to detect when a yarn gets tights or breaks and stop the machine.
This wat, you increase the OEE of the tufting machine, gain production time and reduce the faults in the carpet which need to be repaired or are discarded as waste.
This patented technology is special to other systems because it combines the ability to catch tight ends with detection of broken ends. This is important because every broken end was first a tight end! Another advantage is that it is extremely easy to use. No calibration of the system is needed, and you can run any kind of yarn with any dtex through the modules (Carpet yarns / artificial grass bundles / natural yarns /…). The sensors learn what to look for by themselves. Therefor this is truely an automatic system. To play with the sensitivity of the system, there are 2 parameters you can adjust from the HMI. A time delay on the tight end detection. A sensitivity value to the broken end detection. Both parameters are there to ensure you do not get "false" stops on the machine and only stop the machine when you have a tight or broken yarn. The system is also very easy to install.
There are 2 options for the positioning of the system:
TuftX is used for both carpet and artificial turf solutions.

The AEI TuftinSight™ Platform, powered by TuftX™, combines proven single-end yarn defect detection with CEPA (Continuous Environmental Process Analysis) to deliver machine-wide visibility into yarn quality, stitch formation, and tufting machine operation. By integrating TuftX™ collector-based defect detection with CEPA distributed sensors at critical machine locations including yarn guides, needles, and feed rollers, TuftinSight™ provides comprehensive insight into both yarn behavior and machine performance—delivering quality and performance monitoring approaching 100% coverage. This enables earlier defect detection, precise fault localization, reduced downtime, and supports one operator managing multiple tufting machines.
Key Benefits:
TMS is know worldwide for their market leading position in converting existing machines and offering true value for money. We are able to adapt and design all levels of conversions, from simple gauge changes right through to the complex conversions.
Our standard range of conversions & attachments consists of:
Employing the same detection principle as the industry-proven Tuftight Gen 1, reconfigured in a simpler, more integrated, and easier to maintain design. Tuftight LX is a tight-end detection system that operates using pressure feet. When the yarn begins to run under excessive tension, the pressure feet are depressed, creating an electrical contact. The system sensitivity is adjusted via a time-delay setting, ensuring that the tufting machine automatically stops in the event of a tight end. Set the angle of the yarn and adjust detection sensitivity with a unique rack-and-pinion mechanism. Select programmable stop delay for the entire rail or each meter section. The Tuftight LX accommodates various creel and header layouts by normalizing the tight-end response across the machine. (LXg / LXs)
Proven yarn-break detection technology for tufting. The Scannair 8X provides effective yarn-break detection performance for all yarn types and sizes. Available for single or dual sided machine configurations.
